MARION — Mr. Paul Monroe “Monnie” Stone, 72, of the Frances community of Marion, Ky., passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Stone was of Baptist faith.
Affectionately known as “Jug” by his family and friends, Monnie retired from the Kentucky State, Crittenden County, road department after 30-plus years. His parents also retired from the state. Monty was a NASCAR and University of Kentucky basketball fan, and a loyal Chevy man. He was a loyal friend; a devoted son, brother, and uncle to many; and an integral part of the Stone family and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by three brothers, Jerry Dale Stone and his wife Joyce of Marion, Ky., Wesley Miles Stone and his wife Kathy of Fredonia, Ky., Max Evans Stone and his wife Lisa of Marion, Ky.; nieces and nephew, Angela Stone Richards and her husband Brad of Fancy Farm, Ky., Leslie Stone Jackson and her husband Mark of Dycusburg, Ky., Kayla Stone Brasher and her husband Jeremy of Eddyville, Ky., Jennifer Stone Martin of Louisiana, and James Evan Stone of Marion, Ky.; and seven great-nieces and nephews, Ethan Jackson, Madison, Tamara, Jonathan, and Emily Martin, Emma Brasher and Noah Richards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Lee and Dora Ruth Asbridge Stone.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors. Burial will follow in Frances Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday, August 23, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem.
