MURRAY — William Ralph Evans, 97, of Murray died at 4:22 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Spring Creek Health Care.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the Kentucky Highway Department and was a farmer. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie Nell (Rowland) Evans; four daughters, Marita Burkeen of Tiptonville, Tenn., Connie Wilson of Paris, Tenn., Suzanne Sewell of Tallahassee, Fla., and Suzette Tidrick of Quaker City, Ohio; one son, Gary Evans of Almo; one sister, Louise Carroll of Murray; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother; one sister; and one granddaughter. His parents were William H. & Annie Eula (Compton) Evans.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2013, at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home with the Revs. Marita Burkeen, Richard Dowdy, and Sam Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens with full military rites. Friends may call from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the funeral home.
