Chad D. Shaw
McCracken County Senior Road Deputy Sheriff Chad D. Shaw, age 47, of West Paducah, completed his earthly mission at 6:58 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, and went home to be with the Lord from Baptist Health Paducah.
Born in Bay City, Michigan, Chad served 12 years in the U.S. Army, with tours in Korea, Nicaragua and Panama. He was discharged with the rank of E-6 Staff Sergeant.
A dedicated Law Enforcement Officer, Chad began his career with the Christian County Auxiliary Police Department, then joined the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department before serving nine years with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, where he served as a Senior Road Deputy with extensive training in domestic violence situations and dealing with mentally ill cases.
Chad was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, and was extremely community minded. He spent countless hours on various projects at the Community Christian Academy, where his two daughters attended. Chad assisted in the construction of the school and playground along with providing security for the children and the facility. He was involved in the Cops and Bobbers Fishing event for children and cooked for the children following the event. He was very active in the Fraternal Order of Police, where he served as a Trustee, Sergeant of Arms, and Vice-President, as well as being recognized as “Member of the Year” on numerous occasions. He also assisted with the F.O.P. booth at the Barbecue on the River.
For those who knew Chad, they found him to be a loyal and faithful friend.
Chad was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Margaret Shaw; his two girls, Elizabeth Grace Shaw and Rachel Hope Shaw, both at home. Chad is also survived by his father and mother, Robert L. and Janith Shaw, of Newberry, Michigan; his sister, Sandra Gail LaLone, of Milan, Michigan; and one like a brother, Bobby Cook of West Paducah. Additional survivors include four nieces; one nephew; and one great-niece.

Friends may visit with the family from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the new McCracken County High School gymnasium.
A private celebration of Deputy Chad D. Shaw’s life will take place.
