METROPOLIS, Ill. — Ms. Mary Elizabeth (Hart) McHaney, 95, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Massac Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Metropolis. Rev. Joe Buchanan and Rev. David Wright will officiate. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Ms. McHaney was a member of First Baptist Church in Metropolis and served as their secretary from 1971 to 1984.
Elizabeth is survived by one daughter, Sue Modglin and husband Jim of Metropolis; one son, Phil McHaney and wife Lana of Metropolis; six grandchildren, Kent McHaney and wife Christine of Joppa, Jim Modglin II and wife Katie of St. Charles, Mo., Deidra Borum and husband Robin, Phillip McHaney II and wife Bethany, Danny McHaney, and Angela Thrasher, all of Metropolis; 11 great-grandchildren, Emily Borum, Timmy Johnson, Hope McHaney, Damon McHaney, all of Metropolis, Matt McHaney and Alisha McHaney of Joppa, Josh McHaney of Murray, Nate McHaney of Benton, Hannah Modglin, Charlotte Modglin and Kaylee Modglin, all of St. Charles, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Ethel (Skelton) Hart; one infant brother, Phillip Charles Hart; and her husband, Rev. Charles W. McHaney.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, July 26, 2013, at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Saturday, July 27, 2013.
