Sammy Gene Dodson, age 70, of Paducah, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at his home.
Born in Carlisle County, Sammy served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Cuban Missile Crisis. A retired truck driver, he was also a long time member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
Sammy is survived by his wife, Jeanetta Gifford Berry Dodson; his stepdaughter, Jeanae Morris Fowler, of Paducah; his stepson, Brian Thomas Morris and his wife, Desiree of West Paducah; and his stepmother, Betty Dodson of Mayfield. He is also survived by six stepgrandchildren, Jensen Rae Fowler of Paducah, Jordon Morris, Jacob Morris, Hali Kissiar, Ali Kissiar, and Logan Kissiar, all of West Paducah. Additional survivors include several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Sammy was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Bone Dodson; and his parents, Paul “Pap” and Murlene Dowdy Dodson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with the Rev. Jerry Asberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington City Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
