MAYFIELD — Robert Allen Cox, 81, of Mayfield, formerly of Clinton, died at 1:26 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Jackson Purchase Medical Center.
He attended Pentecostal Tabernacle Church in Water Valley and retired after 40 years from Goodman Manufacturing Co. in Chicago as an electrician. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by two daughters, Bobye Copeland and Christina Thorpe, both of Mayfield; two sons, Charles Keith Gillespie of Paris, Tenn., and Steve Cox of Hickory Hills, Ill.; five sisters, Bonnie Rogers and Brenda Kay Martin, both of Santa Cruz, Calif., Charlotte Cox of Mayfield, and Charlene Voyles and Marilyn Ring, both of Clinton; three brothers, Jimmy Cox, Larry Cox and Fred Cox, all of Clinton; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Carolyn Mills Cox, and one sister. His parents were John and Edith Lynch Cox.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Brown Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Larry McClure officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
