Samuel Simmons Sr.
VIENNA, Ill. — Samuel D. “Sam” Simmons Sr., 82, of Vienna died at 2:42 a.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Lourdes hospital.
He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He had been employed as an automation tender by Ford Motor Company and was a member of Mermet Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Felker Simmons; three children, Samuel D. Simmons Jr. of Flowery Branch, Ga., Linda Sue Vogt of Metropolis, and David D. Simmons of Benton, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lee Simmons of Carbondale; and one sister, Rosemary Hight of Anna.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Franklin Simmons; his stepfather, Jim Wallace; one sister; and three brothers. His parents were William D. Simmons and Violet E. Simmons-Wallace.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Bailey Funeral Home. Burial will be in Belknap Masonic Cemetery, with military graveside rites.
