Raymond Phillip “Ray” Kloss, 74, of Paducah, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at 7:45 p.m. at Southgate Manor in Metropolis, Ill.
Ray was born in Paducah on March 28, 1939, to the late George Joseph Kloss and Mary Rosa Luigs Kloss. He retired from the Kroger Corporation in management after 50 years employment. Ray was very active in the Lions Club, working his way through the chairs to become president. He also served as chairman of Telethon of the Stars and served on the board for Salvation Army. He was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Vicki Sloan Kloss; two sons, Michael Kloss and wife Nicole of Paducah and Randy Kloss and wife Bobbie of Lexington; a daughter, Rae Anne Kloss Alpers and husband Don of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Leanne Alpers, Landon Alpers, Dominique Kloss, Ethan Kloss, Eric Kloss, Brayden Kloss and Brylee Kloss; sister-in-law, Bobbie Nell Kloss of Melber; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Aubrey Kloss and James Andrew Kloss; a half-brother, Herman Luigs; and his parents.
A funeral Mass will be held at Noon Monday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Brian Roby officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. with prayers at 7:30 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
