Benna Sue Settle Kaler, 71, Hopkinsville, died at 6:14 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Hopkinsville First United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Paige S. Williams.
Hughart and Beard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Paducah, born January 25, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Settle and Mary Elizabeth Freeman Walters. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She had been a chemistry teacher at Hopkinsville High School for more than 30 years and was a member of the National Chemistry Society, the Chemistry Honor Society, and had served as the chemistry chair. She had been a sponsor of the National Honor Society and received numerous chemistry awards, among them she had been the recipient of the Kentucky Teacher of the Year Award.
Survivors include two daughters, Trudy Leigh Kaler and Tina Lynette Kaler Marshall; and two grandchildren, Ava and Ty Marshall, all of Hopkinsville.
