Robert ‘Bob’ C. Lorenz
Robert “Bob” C. Lorenz was born Friday, February 3, 1939, in Anderson, Indiana.
He was the son of Harry and Bessie (Mouzey) Lorenz. During his life Bob lived in many locations including Paducah, Kentucky; Lakeland, Florida; Stone Mountain, Georgia; and Portland, Oregon.
In 2011, he moved from Paris, Tennessee, to Pomona, Kansas, where he made his home until his death Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the age of seventy-four years.
Bob graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Aurora, Illinois.
He enjoyed working on cars and driving trucks, which led him into his career as a truck driver.
He was employed by Henson Trucking in Princeton and Penny’s Concrete in Ottawa as a truck driver for many years, retiring in 2003.
In his early years he was a self-employed carpenter.
Bob was a member of the Moose Lodge in Paducah, Kentucky, and California for over forty years and the Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles Ottawa.
Surviving family members include five children, Lisa Smith of Paducah, Kentucky, Roberta “Bobby” Mallory of Pomona, Kansas, Cynthea “Cindi” VanValkenburg of Osage City, Kansas, Henry Smith of Metropolis, Illinois, Rose Smith of Miles City, Montana; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding Bob in death are his parents, Harry and Bessie Lorenz.
Funeral services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona, Kansas.
