Archie Ashby, 94, of Paducah passed away at 6:53 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Baptist Health Paducah.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He retired in 1986 from J.A. Jones Construction Company after 34 years, and he was a United States Army veteran receiving a certificate of appreciation for war service in the 2517th Army Air Force Unit. He was a member of Reidland Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsman and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary Sue Matlock Ashby of Paducah; daughter, Lynda Ashby of Paducah; son Jim Ashby and wife Judy of Tell City, Ind.; two grandchildren, Jason Ashby and wife Nicole of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., and Julia Berning and husband Nick of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three great-grandchildren, Jordyn Berning, Andrew Berning, and November Ashby.

He was preceded in death by four sisters; and three brothers. His parents were Marion Daniel and Nancy Elizabeth Peebles Ashby, all of Benton County, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March, 19, 2013, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Larry Lewis officiating. Graveside services will be in Camden City Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Camden, Tenn.

Visitation for Mr. Ashby will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the funeral home.
