MAYFIELD — Mr. David Thomas Weitlauf, born April 7, 1951, died peacefully in the arms of his wife on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
He was a graduate of St. Mary High School in Paducah, Ky., and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1974. He was a Physical Therapist for 30 years in the Paducah and Mayfield/Graves County areas; was co-owner of Rehab Associates, and was on the Board of Occunet.
David, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mayfield, Ky., was a very caring and giving person, and loved his dogs, Mabel and Jane!
He was an avid lover of music, opera and the Arts; a UK basketball fan and past cyclist; he loved to travel and experience new adventures.
He is survived by his loving wife, Belinda; daughter, Sarah Weitlauf of New York; son, Jea (Kimberly) Weitlauf of Louisville, Ky.; grandson, Keegan; parents, Thomas and Rose Marie Schmitt Weitlauf; sisters, Mary Weitlauf of Lexington, Ky., and Rita (Michael) Gerteisen of Owensboro, Ky.; three brothers, Charles (Sharon) Weitlauf of Indianapolis, Ind., Joe (Paula) Weitlauf of Paducah, Ky., and Michael (Ann) Weitlauf of Lexington, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Wilma Glass; his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral Mass for David Thomas Weitlauf will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mayfield, with Fr. Eric Riley officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Brock Greer, Phillip Weitlauf, John Thomas Weitlauf, Patrick Weitlauf, Brian Quick and Michael Scillion.
Friends may call on the family from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013, in the Byrn Funeral Home Chapel. Prayers will be said at 6:00 in the Chapel.
