God’s angels are singing in Heaven today as Mildred Vee Johnson Butler of Benton, Ky., has claimed her final inheritance as we on earth mourn the loss of our dearly beloved mother and grandmother. Mrs. Butler passed from this life at 8:58 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013. at Calvert City Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her parents, Grover Johnson and Inez (Sample) Johnson; her husband, Roy Butler; two sons, Pastor Rev. Jerry L. Seay and Bennie P. Hamm; one brother, Fred Johnson; and one sister, Eulene (Johnson) Hamm.

Mrs. Butler has one surviving sister, Murrell Foreman of Bradenton, Fla.; one daughter, Verna I. (Seay) Shumaker of Calvert City; two sons, Charles L. Fuqua of Festus, Mo. and James K. Day, Saratoga, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, Natalie Fuqua, Margie (Fuqua) Sparkman, Tammy (Seay) Ortiz, Joey Seay, Pamela (Shumaker) Worthen, Henry H. Shumaker, Jr., Jeffery Shumaker, Garrett Seay, Jarrett Seay, Hope Seay, David Hamm, Jamie Day, Teresa (Hamm) Sharpe; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Butler was a member of Faith Gospel Temple in Gilbertsville.

Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Rev. Terry Phelps, Rev. Mark C. Shumaker, and Rev. WH Shumaker at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, with interment to follow at Marshall County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home.

Mrs. Butler was best known by her friends and family by her candor and friendly and open personality, with all that she met she considered as friend. She will always be remembered for her love of gospel music, singing and playing of the guitar.

All that met her could always enjoy an energetic conversation of God’s Plan for all of us and all the blessings that we can experience from standing in his light.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Henry H. Shumaker Jr., Jamie Day, Jeffery B. Shumaker, David Hamm, Joey Seay, Garrett Seay, Jarrett Seay, Glenn Hatfield and Glenn Knight.
