Nell Marie Young Florence, 80, of Paducah died Monday, March 4, 2013, at 7:55 a.m. at Lourdes Hospital.
She was born in Paducah on April 5, 1932, to the late Frank S. Young Sr. and Hallie Tucker Young.
Nell was the former director of Paducah-McCracken County Senior Citizens, having worked there for 29 years. She organized the chartered bus tours for the Senior Citizens groups, having traveled all over the United States with them. She was a volunteer for RSVP and participated in the Telephone Reassurance Program, placing phone calls to seniors each Tuesday. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Paducah and the Kitchen Band, which volunteered at local nursing homes.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Boyarski and husband Phillip, and Becky Hunt and husband Greg, all of Paducah. She was known as “Mimi” by her beloved grandchildren, Wesley Kay Boyarski, Robby Florence, Lori Beth Lile, Jackie Lile and Zachary Boyarski. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her son, Robert H. Florence Jr.; four siblings, Frank S. Young Jr., Manie Bunger, Hallie Kelley and Martha Johnson, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Tommy Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the funeral home.
