MURRAY — Services for James Milton Smith, 78, of Murray, formerly of Marshall County, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home in Benton. The Rev. Dewey Dick will officiate.

Burial will be in Marshall County Memory Gardens with military rites conducted.

Mr. Smith died at 11:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Smith was a self-employed truck driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Alford Masonic Lodge No. 925 F&AM and a member of Aurora Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Mae Hubbs Smith; three daughters, Kathleen Yancy of Fort Pierce, Fla., Elizabeth Ann Coaley of St. Louis and Faye Lynn Kaiser of Sikeston, Mo.; seven stepchildren, Darla Sue Cornwell of Kuttawa, Debbie June Reed of Calvert City, Douglas Allen Cornwell of Murray, Kerrie Jarell of Dexter, Mo., Tina Dannamuller and Jennie Phillips, both of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Susan Roberds of Mansfield, Ohio; one sister, Bettie Sue Smith of Asheville, N.C.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one brother. His parents were Parker Clayton Smith and Euva Bell Phillips Smith Nichols.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at the funeral home, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013.
