CALVERT CITY — Coleman Hawkins, age 86, of Calvert City, KY., died Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Lourdes hospital in Paducah, Ky.
He was a member of the Calvert City United Methodist Church, charter member of Calvert City Fire Dept., V.F.W #5739, American Legion Post #236, Masonic Lodge #543, a Jaycee, and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was the son of the late Dale Hawkins and the late Grace (Calhoun) Hawkins. He was also preceded by his wife, Virginia Hawkins.
He is survived by his sons, Ken Hawkins and Tim Hawkins, both of Calvert City, Ky.; his daughter in law, Debbie Hawkins of Nashville, Tenn.; his brother, Howard Hawkins of Mayfield, Ky.; his sister, Katie Rogers of Mayfield, Ky.; and his grandchildren, Kendra Bristoe and husband (Andy), and Amanda Lyles and husband (Chase) of Nashville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, Ky., where the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, February 25, 2013.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Collier Funeral Home. Rev. Eddie Bromley will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Dee’s cemetery in Benton, Ky.
