FULTON — Samuel D. Grissom, 81, of Lake Placid, Fla., formerly of the Ruthville community, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the Lake Placid Health Care Center.

He was a member of McConnell Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Air Force with 26 years of service. He was also a farmer.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce May Grissom; two sons, David Grissom of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Daniel Grissom of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and two sisters, Wanda Jackson of Murray and Dorothie Engstrom of Pulaski, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by two brothers. His parents were Samuel Dewey and Corene Jones Grissom.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at McConnell Baptist Church in Weakley County, Tenn. Burial will be in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, and after 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the church.
