LA CENTER —  Don B Kraps, 88,  of La Center, died at 6 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013, at Life Care Center in LaCenter.

Don graduated from Ballard County High School in 1943 and two weeks later he was at Great Lakes Naval Traing Center near Chicago. Don spent all his Navy years on a converted escort carrier, the USS Santee. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of La Center Christian Church and attended Bethel Christian Church. He lived and worked in the Chicago area for 30 years and then retired and lived at Cambridge Shores at Gilbertsville, Ky., for 13 years and then moved back to his hometown of La Center, Ky. He was primary donor for the Celebration Plaza in La Center in memory of his twin brother, Dean Kraps, who was in the Air Force and died in World War II. He was a Master Mason member of Masonic Lodge # 625 of Wickliffe, Kentucky.

Don is survived by his wife, Reba C. Kraps of La Center; one stepson, Mike Ingram and his wife Marilyn of Oscar; one stepdaughter, Carol Dawn Draper and her husband Tommy of La Center; two brothers, Howard Kraps (Nancy) of Salem, Illinois, and Dick Kraps of Jeffersontown, Ky.; one sister, Mary Louise Denton of La Center, Ky.; several nieces and nephews, Dickie Dean Kraps (Doris) of Mesquite, Texas, Kent Kraps (Beth) of Watkinsville, Georgia, Steve Kraps (Josette) of Athens, Georgia, Phil Kraps (Sherry) of Athens, Georgia, Karen Hitchell (Bob) of Memphis, Tenn., Kay Gregg (Ryan) of Dallas, Texas, Keith Kraps of Evansville, Indiana, Kevin Denton (Debbie) of Horse Cave, Ky., Vicki Gough (Jeff) of La Center, Kreg Denton (Bethany) of La Center, Don Kraps of Louisville, Ky., Tim Kraps (Hope) of Louisville, Ky., Carolina Cummings (Dave) of Long Island, New York, and James Gresham of Racine, Wisconsin; five stepgrandchildren, Barry Ingram, Amy Hines (Tommy), Zane Draper (Kristi), Monica Ingram, and Brandon Ingram; seven stepgreat-grandchildren, Callie Hines, Rylee Hines, Ty Draper, Taylor Draper, Eric Haynes, Bryson Ingram, and Lane Myatt.

Services will be Monday, February 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center with the Rev. Keith Tilford and the Rev. Howard Kraps officiating. Interment will follow at La Center Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening at Morrow Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m.
