BOAZ — Dorothy Lee Purcell, 92 of Hardmoney, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013, at her home in Boaz in the Hardmoney community.
Mrs. Purcell was a homemaker, and was an active member of Hardmoney Baptist Church for over 70 years. She and her husband were farmers all their lives.
Surviving are her sister, Kathleen (Jim) Johnson of Paducah; two sons, David Howard (Fran) Purcell and Roy Dale (Marsha) Purcell, both of Hardmoney; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Purcell, who passed away in 1989; one son, Carl Gene Purcell, who died in 1998; and three brothers, Aubrey, Neil, and Waymon McReynolds. Her parents were Alton and Marguerite McReynolds.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Hardmoney Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Smith and the Rev. Faris Sahawneh officiating. Burial will follow at Hardmoney Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 16, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Lindsey Funeral Home and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Hardmoney Baptist Church.
