Lola Mae Jennings, 88, of Paducah, Ky., formerly of Pulaski, Illinois, was born April 5, 1924, to the late James Love and Zora Anderson Love in Hickman, Ky. She departed this life at 3:15 a.m. at the Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, Ill., on Wednesday, February 13, 2013.
She was a faithful member of the St. John Praise and Worship Center in Pulaski, Ill., serving as the church Clerk/Secretary, she was also on the Mother’s Board and she was very active in the Zion District Association until her health began to decline and she moved to Paducah, Ky., to be near her son, and while in Paducah she was under Watch Care at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church of Paducah.
She was employed by Pulaski County Head Start as a proud Head Start instructor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Zora (Anderson) Love; her first husband, Tommy Gray; second husband, Buster Jennings; one son, Calvin Gray; two sisters; and two brothers.
Lola Mae is survived by her son, Dennis (Sue) Gray of Paducah, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Stefan Gray, Kelvin Powers, Katrina Dennis, Chanda Gray, Leticia Gray-Broadnax, Dennis J. Gray, Andrea Tanisha Gray; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ocie B. Love, of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Mildred Sutherland and Queen Ester James, both of South Bend, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be 12:00 noon Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the St. John Praise and Worship Center in Pulaski, Illinois, with Apostle Larry T. Barnett as Eulogist and Pastor Edward Ballard officiating.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Saturday at the St. John Praise and Worship Center in Pulaski, Illinois. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Memorial Garden in Villa Ridge, Illinois.
Massie Funeral Home in Mounds, Illinois, is in charge of the arrangements.
