METROPOLIS, Ill. — Sandra S. Verbarg, 60, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away at 6:02 a.m. at Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Rev. Lauren Ley and Rev. David Deem will officiate. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis.

Sandra was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was confirmed by the Rev. Earl Heuser on March 19, 1967. She worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home for 32 years as a cook.

Sandra is survived by her parents, Wayne and Alberta (Hillebrand) Verbarg of Metropolis; sister, Carolyn Verbarg of Metropolis; brother, Garry Verbarg of Metropolis; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Otto and Amanda (Mescher) Hillebrand and Elmer and Marie (Meyer) Verbarg.

Friends may call to the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis Thursday, February 14, from noon to 2 p.m.
