MOUNDS, Ill. — Wallis H. Moreland, 84, of Mounds, formerly of Cairo, died at 9:42 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Mr. Moreland served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was the owner of Moreland Small Engine Sales and Service in Mounds and was a member of Tigert Memorial United Methodist Church in Cairo.
Mr. Moreland is survived by two sons, James H. Moreland of Millstadt and David W. Moreland of Mounds; two brothers, Harry Lee Moreland of Mounds and Franklin Moreland of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Moreland; and two sisters. His parents were Thomas Henry and Guyla Wallis Moreland.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. The Rev. Mike Shearer will officiate. Burial will be in Mound City National Cemetery, with military rites conducted.
