Janice M. Landrem
STAUNTON, Ill. — Janice M. Landrem, 71, of Staunton, Illinois, formerly of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at 6 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at the Life Care Center of Florissant, Missouri.
She was born on April 23, 1941, in Henderson, Kentucky, the daughter of Elizabeth E. (Donahue) Adkins and the late Thurman G. Adkins. She was married to Jerry E. Landrem on September 3, 1960, in Paducah, Kentucky, and he passed away on November 16, 1988.
She was employed as a secretary in the Housing/Maintenance Department at SIU-Edwardsville, Illinois, for 20 years. Prior to that, she had worked for several years at Jubelt’s Bakery in Staunton, Illinois.
She was a member of First United Baptist Church of Staunton and the Staunton Chapter of Tops Club No. 1676. She was an avid quilter, sharing her gift with many including Quilts For Kids. She loved keeping her hands busy with needlework and crocheting. She loved reading and swapping books with friends. She also took stained glass classes and handcrafted many beautiful pieces.
She is survived by a daughter, Michelle (husband John) Dierker of Morton, Illinois; one son, Richard A. Landrem Sr. of Worden, Illinois; three grandchildren, Allison and Adam Dierker and Richard A. Landrem Jr.; her mother, Elizabeth E. Adkins of Henderson, Kentucky; two sisters, Chris Jones of West Paducah, Kentucky, and Glenda Bruner of Owensboro, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at First United Baptist Church in Staunton, Illinois, with the Rev. Mark Allison officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, Illinois.
