MAYFIELD — Talmage Wilkes, 83, of Mayfield died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at his home.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, a deacon and Sunday school teacher, retired general manager of Dairy Brand and Turner Milk Company, and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Jane McDavid Wilkes; two sons, David Wilkes of Mayfield and Bobby Wilkes of Henderson; two daughters, Kaye Edwards of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Jane Nowling of Austin, Texas; four sisters, Rose Glisson and Lillie Ann Kidd, both of Mayfield, Sylvia Kidd of Evansville, Ind., and Phyllis Lindsey of Winchester; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother. His parents were William and Vitrue Wilkins Wilkes.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Byrn Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery with military graveside rites.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at the funeral home.
