BENTON — Forrest Edward Butler, 79, of Benton died Thursday, January 31, 2013, at his home.

He was a retired sergeant major for the U.S. Army and served his country during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton.

He is survived by his wife, Mary “Joyce” (Bolerjack) Butler; his daughters, Tanya Joyce Teddleton of Benton and Sharon Grooms of Dyersburg, Tenn.; his brother, Jackie Butler of Trenton, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sons, Gary Butler, Rodney Stewart, and Charles Butler; a daughter, Melissa Duerkes; and one brother. His parents were Abner and Idell (Thomas) Butler.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Collier Funeral Chapel in Benton with the Revs. Don Wilson and K. Alan Miller officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow at 3 p.m. Thursday in Double Springs Cemetery, Milan, Tenn.

Visitation will be held between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the funeral home.
