MURRAY — Homer C. Burkeen, 98, of the Palestine community died Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Murray Calloway County Hospital.

He was retired from the Murray Division of Tappan, was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Palestine United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the adult Sunday school class, and was a member of Alford 925 Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by one son, Jimmie Burkeen of Murray; one sister, Dortha Mae Lovett of Murray; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ela Byers Burkeen. His parents were Chester Arthur and Alma Miller Burkeen.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine United Methodist Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013, at the funeral home.
