VIENNA, Ill. — Carl T. Smoot, 83, of rural Vienna died at 10:07 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
He worked at Transcraft Inc. in Anna, where he was employed as a chipper and grinder engineer. He was an associate member of the Illinois Sheriff’s Association and Johnson County Farm Bureau. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (Davis) Smoot; his children, DeLois Fisher of Vienna, Carla Foskey of Anna, Ricky Cook of Buncombe and James Kimmel of Vienna; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Smoot of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and George Smoot of Columbia, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. His parents were Henry and Iva (Rendleman) Smoot.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery near Dongola.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home.
