GRACEY — Mildred D. “Farris” Mitchell, 79, of Gracey died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Locust Grove Baptist Church and was a retired cashier from Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Mitchell; two sons, Dale Mitchell of Mulberry, Fla., and Gary Mitchell of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Karla Edmonson of Gracey; one sister, Edna Taylor of Hopkinsville; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers. Her parents were John Otha and Leona Belle Green Chewning.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Locust Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hagan officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 28, 2013, at the church. Goodwin Funeral Home of Cadiz is in charge of arrangements.
