GRACEY — Mildred D. “Farris” Mitchell, 79, of Gracey died Friday, January 25, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

She was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher.

She retired from Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where she was a cashier.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Mitchell; two sons, Dale Mitchell of Mulberry, Fla., and Gary Mitchell of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Karla Edmonson of Gracey; a sister, Edna Taylor of Hopkinsville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers. Her parents were John Otha and Leona Belle Green Chewning.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Locust Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hagan officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013, at Goodwin Funeral Home of Cadiz.
