OWENSBORO — Helton Harriman Harbison, 82, of Owensboro Place, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013.
Helton was born on December 6, 1930, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. He was one of ten children born to Addie Bell Parker Harbison and W.W. Harbison and spent his childhood years in Tennessee.
As a young adult, Helton moved with his family to Cullman County, Ala., his family’s native home. He was a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church in Cullman, Ala. Through the years he received special care from many family members.
Most recently he has lived in Owensboro, Kentucky, to be near his nephew, Grey (Ellen) Hurt.
Helton had a kind and loving spirit that endeared him to family, friends and those who cared for him.
Helton is survived by two sisters, Scharlyene Harbison Hurt of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Jeweldean Harbison Clay of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
There will be a private burial in Benton City Cemetery in Benton, Ky., on Saturday, January 26, 2013. One of Helton’s nephews, Rev. Bob Cook of White House, Tenn., will officiate.
