METROPOLIS, Ill. — Mrs. Violet Lee Stephens, age 83, of Metropolis, IL passed away at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home.
The Rev. David Deem will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Violet was retired from Massac Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross.
Violet is survived by two daughters, Janie Johnson and husband Trent of Metropolis, Ill., and Vickie Pratte and husband Jim of Metropolis, Ill.; two sons, Gary Stephens and wife Cheryl of Olmsted, Ill., and Mike “Possum” Stephens and wife Vickie of Joppa, Ill.; five grandchildren, Nate Stephens, Molly Stephens, Chad Lewis, Cale Lewis, all of Metropolis, Ill., and Leah Moore of Olmsted, Ill.; 10 great-grandchildren, Hadley Stephens, Ella Stephens, Hannah McNeill-Stephens, Ava McNeill-Stephens, Hudson Lewis, Holden Lewis, all of Metropolis, Ill., Lydia Lewis of Byron Center, Mich., Cameron Moore, Kolby Moore, Madison Moore, all of Olmsted, Ill.; several nieces and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Opal (Gee) Morse; husband, J.B. Stephens; grandson, Brad Rushing; three sisters, Lorene Alexander, Alice Inman and Faye Mescher; and brother, George Morse.
Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, January 20, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis.
Pallbearers will be Chad Lewis, Cale Lewis, Jim Pratte, Nate Stephens, Gary Stephens, and Ray Duley.
