METROPOLIS, Ill. — Benjamin O. Neally, age 94, of Metropolis, Ill., died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.
Ben was born in Shenandoah, Iowa, on October 30, 1918. He served in World War II as a lieutenant in the South Pacific arena.
Ben lived in Metropolis for over 50 years and retired from Missouri Portland Cement Company as an engineer. He was a member of Elks Lodge 1428.
He is survived by his three children, Janis (Junior) Bradford of Belknap, David (Lisa) Neally of Metropolis, and Elizabeth Neally of San Antonio, Texas; his five grandchildren, Lisa Bradford, Craig Bradford, Angela (Chris) Rodgers, Samantha Neally and Mia Neally, and his two great-grandchildren, Shawn Bradford and Simone Fashola.
Ben was an avid reader and memorial contributions may be made to the Metropolis Public Library, 317 Metropolis Street, Metropolis, IL 62960.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation home for their care of our father.
The family will hold a Celebration of Ben’s life on March 30, 2013.
