MAYFIELD — Memorial visitation for Fayte “Bubba” Brewer of Lafayette, Ind., and a native of Mayfield, will be 3-5 p.m. today, December 30, 2012, at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette.

Mr. Brewer, 64, died at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

He was a graduate of Mayfield High School and graduated summa cum laude from Murray State University with a bachelor of science degree and a master’s degree in agriculture. He earned his doctorate in agronomy from the University of Arkansas. He worked with the overseas division of Pioneer Hi-bred International in Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Spain, Portugal and South Africa. He taught farm management and Ag Econ briefly at Berea College in Berea before moving to Lafayette to become president of the Agricultural Alumni Seed Improvement Association.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; a daughter, Jesse Dulaney Brewer of Lafayette; and a sister, Celia Brewer of Mayfield.
