After a courageous 16 month battle with pancreatic cancer, Nellie May Colley Groves went home to Heaven. On Dec. 15, 2012, beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend passed away at her daughter’s home in Lone Oak.

Born on May 1, 1937, Nellie was 75 years old and enjoyed pouring and painting plaster crafts. She was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church. She had many friends and loved everyone.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Groves of Paducah and her fiancée Stefan Jagoe; two brothers, George Allen Colley and William (Bill) Walter Colley of Cadiz; by a God-sent “son,” Richard Egan Gray of Princeton; and several nieces; nephews; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Herman Edward Groves; her parents, Lewis Carr and Virginia Malone Colley; two brothers, John Lewis Colley and Carl Magraw Colley; three sisters, Laura Bell Wallace, Nancy Elizabeth Turner, and Louise Colley; and one niece, Reginia Louise Wallace.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, beginning at 11 a.m. at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville, Kentucky. (270) 388-2231

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, also at the funeral home. Rev. Paul Frederick (Freddie) Groves will be officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Cemetery in Eddyville, Ky.
