Richard “Dick” Roberts died December 2, 2012 at 11:10 p.m. at his residence.

Dick was of Episcopal faith and a native of Paducah. He retired from Paducah Independent Schools, and served as maintenance superintendent for several area businesses including SynTechnics of Reidland and was an electrician.

Dick was a veteran of U.S. Navy and was aboard the ship that picked up the first astronaut when he landed.

He was a proud Eagle Scout and loved to fish and camp.

He is survived by his wife, Carolin Volkert Roberts of forty years; one daughter: Natalie Anne Roberts Walls and son-in-law Al, Nashville, Tenn.; one uncle, A.V. “Tony” Dallas. Lone Oak, KY and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Thomas and Virginia Almedia Dallas Roberts; and one sister, Janice Roberts.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Kenton Cemetery with the Rev. Jamie Broome officiating.

Friends may call Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 1-3 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
