METROPOLIS, Ill. — Joe Paul Shelton, 88, of Metropolis, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, in St. Charles, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with the Rev. Mike Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Joe was a devout and faithful member of First Christian Church of Metropolis for most of his life. He was an elder, taught the adult married Sunday School class, and sang in the choir for many years.

Joe is survived by one brother, James Robert Shelton and wife Reda of Palm Springs, Calif.; one sister, Sue Montgomery and husband Dale of St. Charles, Mo.; two nieces, Carla Grippe of Tampa, Fla., and Sharon Morse of Ocala, Fla.; three nephews, Bryan Montgomery of Belleville, Ill., Michael Montgomery of St. Charles, Mo., and Jon Shelton of Los Angeles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Arnold and Myra (Golightly) Shelton, and one sister, Mary Storms.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
