Virginia “Jinkie” Bearden Sharpe, 81, of Paducah, Ky., passed away at 2:35 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Lourdes hospital.
Virginia was born in McCracken County, Ky. She was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. Virginia was a 1949 graduate of the Lone Oak High School. For many years she grew and sold flowers from her home. Virginia was known for her beautiful Irises, Day-lilies, Mums, and Creeping Flocks and other flowers that she grew.
Virginia is survived by two sons, Dennis Sharpe and wife Cathey of Paducah, Ky., and Gary Sharpe of Paducah, Ky.; one sister, Naomi Hawes of Paducah, Ky.; two grandchildren, Alexandria Sharpe and Dennis Patrick Sharpe; three great-grandchildren, Arol Sharpe, Sadie Sharpe, and Caleb Sharpe; several nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Sharpe; two sisters, Ettlene Bearden and Onida Raider; and one brother, Edward Earl “Buster” Bearden. Her parents were Audie Bearden and Zula Rudolph Bearden.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Jerry Asberry officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2012, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
