David Allen Burkhart, 71, of Benton, Kentucky, died on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. He worked as a boat pilot for Vulcan Materials.
Born Wednesday, October 29, 1941, in Graves County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late David Ellis Burkhart and Dorothy Mae (Carmon) Burkhart of Benton, Ky.
Surviving are his mother, Dorothy Mae (Carmon) Burkhart of Benton, Ky.; wife: Carol (Henson) Burkhart of Benton, Ky.; son, David Lee Burkhart of Hickory, Ky., daughters, Donna Jean Lamb of Hickory, Ky., Nancy Ann Gill of Hickory, Ky., Ruth Ann Triebull of Paducah, Ky., and Gracie Jean Slagle of Boaz, Ky.; brother, Thomas Burkhart of Hickory, Ky.; sisters, Jeannette Doublin of Benton, Ky., and Phyllis Diane Morehead of New Mexico; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Robert Glen Burkhart; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5-8 PM Thursday, November 22, 2012, at the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, Ky. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 23, 2012, at 2:30 PM in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. Frank Queen will officiate with interment to follow in the Union Ridge Cemetery, Aurora, KY.
