Jeane VanHooser Lyles, 87, of Paducah, Ky., passed away at 12:23 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2012, at Lourdes hospital.
She was born in Metropolis, Ill. Jeane was an elementary school teacher for Massac County Unit #1, specializing in phonics. Jeane had also taught in St. Louis, Mo., and at the Draughon’s Business College in Paducah, Ky. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Paducah where she was a member of the choir and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was a graduate of Murray State Teacher’s College and a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota Fraternity for music.
Jeane is survived by her husband, Everett Lyles Jr. of Paducah, Ky.; daughters, Michele Venable and husband Jay of Paducah, Ky., and Lynda Lyles of Paducah, Ky.; son, Everett Lyles III and wife Jill of Paducah, Ky.; grandchildren, Lauren Venable, Brittany Venable, Erin Morehead and Evan Lyles; eight and one-half great-grandchildren; and a niece, Judy Doherty of Paducah, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Alice Dugger VanHooser, and a sister, Dorothy Helen Gillespie.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, at the First Christian Church of Paducah with the Rev. J. Gottman officiating.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, at the First Christian Church of Paducah.
