MAYFIELD — Mrs. Brenda Joyce Stricklin, 69, of Mayfield, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Brenda was born in Akron, Ohio, December 10, 1942, to the late Ransey Joiner Jr. and Dorothy Kathleen Sloan.
She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. On January 27, 1962, Brenda married the love of her life, Dennis Stricklin, at Akron Baptist Temple in Akron, Ohio.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Ransey Joiner Jr. of Mayfield; mother, Kathleen Dowdy Sloan of Mayfield; stepfather, Thomas Edward Sloan of Mayfield; stepmother, Jane Joiner of Mayfield; brother, Ronald Merritt Joiner of Akron, Ohio, and nephew, Trevor Clay Williams of Mayfield.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Dennis Stricklin of Mayfield; one son, Michael and wife Brandi Stricklin of Mayfield; one daughter, Ms. Jamie West of Mayfield; she was “Grannie” to four wonderful grandchildren who brightened her world, Katelin Spraggs of Murray, Isabella Stricklin of Mayfield, Acey Stricklin of Mayfield, and Elli Stricklin of Mayfield; one sister, Teka Williams and husband Clay of Mayfield; and one brother, Randy Adair and wife Rosie of Mayfield.
She was a retiree of Air Relief. She loved spending time with her family and friends, reading, and vacationing at the beach.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Clay Williams, Hunter Williams, Shawn Dowdy, Jacob Chambers, Steve Dowdy, Roger Dowdy and Jeff Dowdy. Wayne Chambers and Kenny Austin will serve as honorary pallbearers. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Maplewood Cemetery in Mayfield with the Rev. Monte Hodges officiating.
