“Sinister”

Ethan Hawke stars as Ellison Oswalt, a true-crime novelist who moves his family to a small town to write what he hopes will be his next hit. When Oswalt discovers disturbing home movie footage in the attic of his new home, he and his family are plunged into a supernatural experience.

The buzz: “Sinister” offers some predictable, but still unnerving, scares. Audiences will see the end game long before the characters catch on.
