KEVIL — John Louis Steger, 82, of Kevil, passed away 1:59 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012, at Lourdes hospital.

Mr. Steger was retired from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters where he worked for Federal Materials and Tennessee Valley Authority. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Park Pirtle Steger; his daughters, Glenda Lawrence (George) of Kevil, Pat Reynolds (George) of Paducah, Doris Brandon of West Paducah, and Sandy Montgomery (Tidbit) of Calvert City; sons Danny Steger (Sonny) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mike Steger (Linda) of West Paducah, Wayne Steger of Paducah, Steve Pirtle (Dianne) of Paducah, Larry Pirtle (Daphne) of Memphis; brother, Ed Steger (Thelma) of Reidland; 24 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Steger Turner; one son, Michael Pirtle; and one sister, Edra Gholson; his parents were J.T. and Effie Allan Steger.

Funeral services for Mr. Steger will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2012, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Rodney Wallace and the Rev. Doug Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012, at the funeral home.
