ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — J. Rex Paschall of Arlington Heights, Illinois, died suddenly at/near his home on September 15, 2012.

Paschall was born in Calloway County, Ky., and was a resident of Murray and a graduate of Murray State. Following service in the Army at Ft. McClellan, Alabama, he was employed by B.F. Goodrich and resided in the areas of Cleveland, Ohio, Dallas, Texas, and Kansas City, Mo.

While working for M&T Chemical Company, he lived in the Kansas City, Kan., area. Due to his mother’s illness, he returned to live in Murray and became employed at Sears in Paducah where he worked from 1998 to 2006, when he retired. In 2000, his mother became a resident at Wellington Parc in Paducah. Paschall was very active in visiting his mother, and becoming friends with staff, residents, and their families. In 2005, his mother was moved to Parkview Nursing Home.

He was very involved in her care there. After his retirement, he continued to commute to Paducah six days a week, visiting her several hours each day. He made friends with many residents, their families, and staff members. In 2009, he moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois, to help out his son and the growing family. He also became very active in a square dancing club.

Paschall was preceded in death by his second son, Andrew Harold, in 2008.

He was formerly married to Carol Colburn, currently of Versailles, Mo.

Survivors include a son, James Cecil (Mary); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Bridget, James Rex, Theresa, Joe, Maria, and Andrew, of Arlington Heights, Illinois; a sister, Beverly (Robert) Quinn, of Richardson, Texas.

Local relatives include: Helen Humphreys, a maternal cousin by marriage; a first cousin, Karen (Jerry) Shekell of Paducah and her children, Dr. Shane Rust of Paducah, Johnny Rust of Bardwell and Sallie S. Martin of Jackson, Tenn.

Special friends include Bob and Kathy Nord of Benton. They met as Rex’s customers; then Nord became a co-worker. They remained friends, and Nord served as pallbearer.

Visitation was held at Glueckert Funeral Home on Tuesday.

Services were held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at St. Edna Catholic Church in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where Rex was a member. Burial followed at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois, where an infant grandchild is also buried.
