CLINTON — Virgil Powell Clark, 85, of Clinton died at 9:39 p.m. Saturday at Clinton-Hickman County ICF Nursing Home.

He was a member of Oakton United Methodist Church. He was formerly Hickman County sheriff, owner of Clark’s Seafood Restaurant, and served in the U.S. Marines and U.S. Army.

He is survived by three sons, Monty Clark and Mike Clark, both of Clinton, and Clifford Clark of Wingo; two daughters, Cindy Edwards and Tracy Ballantine, both of Clinton; three brothers, Morris “Pep” Clark of Clinton, Ed Clark of South Fulton, Tenn., and Teddy Clark of Martin, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Virgil Clark; one daughter, Maria Clark; one sister; and one brother. His parents were Edward Norman “Hoss” and Ruth Deweese Clark.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Rocky James officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
