HILLSBORO, Ill. — Mildred R. Holshouser, 88, of Hillsboro passed away at 5:40 p.m. Sept. 25, 2012, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1924, in Karnak, Ill., to Ray and Lois (Smith) Canada.

She graduated from Karnak High School. She was a member of Karnak Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro. She was a nurse’s aide and worked in the X-ray department at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

She married Bill Holshouser on Sept. 14, 1946, and he preceded her on April 2, 1993.

She is survived by two sons, Joey (wife Patty) Holshouser of Hillsboro and Max (wife Sally) of San Diego,  Calif.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Warren Canada of Springfield; and two sisters, Earline Welton and Brenda Atchinson, both of Ann Arbor, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Bob, Billy and Jimmy Canada; and one sister, Margaret McMullen.

Memorials can be made to the Calvary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, from 10 until service time with a funeral service to begin at 12 noon at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with the Rev. Jeff Hemken officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
