VIENNA, Ill. — W. David Whiteside, 89, of Vienna died at 12:21 a.m. Sept. 18 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, an educator and administrator, and a member of Vienna First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Gail Balsamello of Lake Villa; one brother, Fred Earl Whiteside of Vienna; one sister, Betty Jean Adams of Chicota, Texas; one granddaughter, and two great-grandsons
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Lou Beggs Whiteside; one son, Dennis David Whiteside; two sisters; and one brother. His parents were Fred David and Melissa Irene Wood Whiteside.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Simpson Baptist Church. Burial with military rites will be in Whiteside Cemetery.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at Simpson Baptist Church.
