Rube Davis Jr., 90, of Paducah, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at his residence.
He was a member of Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an usher. He retired from the US Government as a General Service Administrator Building Carpentry Manager in Detroit.
He was also a volunteer with Paducah-McCracken County Senior Citizens, Inc. and the city of Paducah’s Nuisance Code Enforcement Board. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Delois E. Davis of Paducah; four stepchildren, Jerry A. Blake, Vanessa Blake and Jacqueline Blake, all of Detroit, and Minister Huey (Corliss) P. Blake of Atlanta; two granddaughters, Tenia (Brian) Ray of Decatur, Ill., and Vickie (Carlos) Jackson of St. Paul, Minn.; three great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rube Davis Sr. and Lovie Mae Flowers Davis; his first wife, AlFrances Davis; a son, Crawford Eugene Davis; two sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral service will be Noon Monday, September 17, 2012, at Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend James L. Hudson will officiate, and entombment with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may also call from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home and again at 11 a.m. Monday until the funeral hour at the church.
