MURRAY — Van Layton Futrell, 66, of Murray, died at 4:40 p.m. Saturday at his home.

He was a retired Lt. Colonel with the U.S. Army and a farmer.

He is survived by three sons, Jon T. Futrell of Murray, Darby Futrell of Benton, and Nathan Futrell of North Carolina; two brothers, Bill Futrell of Fairdealing and Demsey Futrell of Symsonia; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruby Futrell; and one sister.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with military honors. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
