BROOKPORT, Ill. — Mr. Hughie W. Scott, age 61 of Brookport, passed away at 10:40 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Scott was employed at Walker Boat Yard and James Marine as a Towboat Captain for over forty-two years.

Mr. Scott is survived by his wife Carolyn Duncan Scott of Brookport; his daughter, Misty Henley and her husband Kevin of Unionville; his son, William Thomas (Billy) Scott and his wife Lacy of Kevil, Ky; his grandchildren, Alexis Burnett, Caitlynn Scott, Kristen Stringer, and Weston Scott; one sister; Shirley Taylor of Brookport; sister-in-law, Mary Scott of Beaver Dam, Ky. a cousin; Mike Little; and a “Special” Dad, Bob Hogan of Brookport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas and Mary Naomi Scott; a granddaughter, Tatum Scott; his sisters, Alma Hogan, Thelma Simpson, Mary Belle Bruce, and Catherine Sweeney; his brothers, Tommy Scott, and William Harold Scott.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Brookport Church of God with Rev. Charles Tate officiating. Burial will follow at the Pell Cemetery in Brookport.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday September 3, 2012 at the Brookport Church of God.
