TILINE — Services for Gilford N. Smith, 81, of Tiline will be at 1 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland. The Rev. C.C. Brasher will officiate. Burial will be in Tiline Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday at Lourdes hospital in Paducah.

He was a retired heavy-equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181 for 56 years. He was a member of Cumberland Valley Baptist Church in Tiline.

Surviving are two daughters, Marie Keys of Grand Rivers and Kimberly Smith Gibbs of Charlotte, N.C.; one stepson, Mike Reno of Owensboro; three stepdaughters, Patricia Holsapple and Iris Michel, both of Paducah, and Carol Murphy of Tiline; one brother, Tony Smith of Smithland; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Gossett Smith; one son, Ricky Smith; three brothers; one sister; and one stepgrandson. His parents were Bob and Ida Smith.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.
